JENE PETERS LANE

Jene Peters Lane 84, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at her home in Savannah following a long illness.
Mrs. Lane was born and grew up in Savannah, where she graduated form Savannah High School and subsequently enrolled in training as a medical assistant.
She had a profound love, however for design and floral arranging and spent much of her life successfully pursuing those activities. She had a deep passion for life, a wonderful sense of humor, and the unique ability to bring her enthusiasm and joy into the lives of others.
Jene moved to Coral Gables, Florida in 1971 and lived there until returning to Savannah in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Peters Sr. who died in 1967, her parents, Paul H. and Alline B. Smith, her sister, Louise S. Purkerson and her brother, Kulman B. Smith.


Jene is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Peters Gentes and husband, Jeffery, her grandchildren, Ryan and Cole Gentes, her brother, Colonel J. Carlyle Smith USAF Ret. and wife Ava, her sister, Mary Horger and husband Dr. Richard C. and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Memorial Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Savannah Inc.
